Please read all of this information. The link to register is at the BOTTOM of this page.

Registration is only taken online. Payment can be online or by check.

For technical issues with registration, please contact Matthew Altman.

  • Fees after June 1: $525 per child, per class for Religious school and $550 per child, per class for Hebrew school.
  • NEW members receive a $100 discount per child, per class (K-10).
  • There are NO EXCEPTIONS. Until payment is received, or payment plans arranged, your child will not be “formally” registered for 2017/18 and cannot be assigned a classroom and teacher. All of your Am Shalom obligations must also be current, or once again, a payment plan arranged.
  • Remember that school registration is for Am Shalom members only. Membership information and forms can be found here.

Please take note of the following grade-level considerations:

  • OUR PRE-Kindergarten class is open again! Please sign up for our pre-kindergarten class HERE. Our Pre-Kindergarten class is open to children who will be starting kindergarten in the fall of 2018. It meets once a month, and the registration fee is $180. This is open to members and non-members
  • 2017-2018 THIRD Graders MUST sign up for Hebrew School for 2017-2018 or find a tutor to keep them on track with their preparation for becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Please reach out to the Am Shalom staff if you have any questions.

  •

2017-2018 SECOND GRADERS are eligible to enroll in a Hebrew Enrichment Class for Second Grade. This is an opportunity to get a jump-start on Hebrew learning for your 2nd grade student and a great time to take advantage of their enthusiasm for learning! We highly recommend you take advantage of this opportunity. Our Hebrew Enrichment class will continue to be taught by one of our Directors of Youth Programming, Kadi House.
  • 2017-2018 SEVENTH GRADERS must enroll in our 7th grade program, in which 70% attendance throughout the school year is a necessity for becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah at Am Shalom. 7th Grade Religious School has changed, please pay attention to the options.

    •

7th Grade Religious School: Choose ONE of the following options:
      • Madrichim-in-Training - Sundays 9:15-11:30am
        • Madrichim are the helpers in our religious school classrooms. Our 7th Grade Madrichim will have several required additional training sessions before or after Religious School, scheduled in advance, and one session that will take place before the Religious School Year begins.
      • Advanced Hebrew School - Wednesdays 4:15-6:00pm
        • 7th grade Advanced Hebrew School will focus on Modern Hebrew, in addition to training our 7th graders to be helpers in our Hebrew School. Also, this will help prepare students who plan to take Hebrew in high school.
      • Jewish Culture Study - Sundays 11:30am-1:00pm
        • Students will learn about Judaism through cultural study, such as cooking, arts, music, and drama. (This group will also have bagel brunch with the 8-10th graders on Sunday mornings)
      • Philanthropy & Tikkun Olam (Repair the World) - Mondays 6:15-7:30pm
        • Through thought-provoking discussion and learning, these students will learn about philanthropy and major world issues. Students will engage in a tikkun olam (repair the world) project together as a group.

Each of the programs has a 15-student limit, first-come, first-serve. You will be asked to rank your student's choices.

Reminder: 7th graders are expected to enroll in one of these four programs as a requirement of our B'nai Mitzvah program.

  • Jewish education doesn’t end at age 13! Our 8th, 9th, and 10th grade programs, taught by our Rabbis and our master teacher Buddy Schreiber, are incredibly engaging and address relevant teen issues. Each class also has a yearly trip. All current seventh graders are HIGHLY encouraged to sign up for our confirmation program. All students in these grades are encouraged to sign up, even if you didn't register or attend the previous year.

  • 2017-2018 11th/12th graders are invited to attend our 11th and 12th grade Post-Confirmation program. Please select this box on the school registration form. There is no fee for this program.

Thank you for your cooperation with our school registration process. We look forward to receiving your registration materials soon.

If you have any questions regarding school registration, please contact Rabbi Phyllis Sommer, our Director of Congregational Learning, by email or 847-835-4800, x253.
