Serve a meal, bring in leftover Halloween candy, visit with seniors and more!
1. Contribute to our Thanksgiving Feeding the Hungry Fund
Every year, Am Shalom partners with area congregations to provide a warm Thanksgiving meal for people in need - for many, it's the only holiday meal they will have. Please make a donation to support this year's Thanksgiving Feeding the Hungry Campaign!
2. Serve Thanksgiving meals

Shifts begin at 11:00am
Space is limited!
Please contact Nina Schroeder for more information or to RSVP.
Thursday, November 22 at Eternal Word

3. Donate new winter items
Make sure everyone in our Chicagoland community has warm clothes this winter! Please drop off the items at the Am Shalom office by November 13. We are collecting:
- NEW socks for men, women and/or children
- NEW gloves/mittens for men, women and/or children
- NEW hats for men, women and/or children
- NEW pajamas for children
4. Bring in your leftover Halloween candy!
It will be used to create gift bags for children who attend the Thanksgiving meal at Bethlehem Healing Temple. Please drop it off at the Am Shalom office by November 13.
5. Volunteer at Cradles to Crayons
Join us Sunday, November 11 at 1:30pm at the Cradles to Crayons Giving Factory to help process, sort, clean and package items for children in need. This program is best for adults and children 5 and older, though all are welcome.
6. Make sandwiches and pack 400 lunches
Join us in the Am Shalom Kitchen on Sunday, November 18 at 9:00am for Fanchon Simons' Feeding the Hungry!
7. Share the Care
Spend an hour visiting with residents at Brookdale, a senior living facility. We'll play games, listen to music, do a craft - something different each visit. This is a meaningful mitzvah opportunity for all ages. Join us on Sunday, November 18 at 1:30pm.
8. Grab a Dreidel Tag!
Bring joy to a child this holiday season by purchasing a holiday gift through our Dreidel Tag program, in partnership with Jewish Child & Family Services. Pick up a dreidel tag from the board near the Am Shalom office, then get shopping! Gifts are due back by November 15.
