TWO MINUTES OF TORAH

Here's Rabbi Steve's two minute take on the weekly Torah portion. Read more about Matot-Mas-ei.

A MIDSUMMER MUSIC FEST:
EMPOWERING WOMEN’S VOICES

100 years ago, the 19th amendment to the US Constitution was ratified giving women the right to vote. ZOOM in with Music at Am Shalom and our cantors for a series of events in celebration of women’s voices! The program begins tonight at 7:00pm with a concert featuring leading Jewish American female singer-songwriters, Michelle Citrin & Cantor Shanna Zell.

Register for Midsummer Music Fest programs here

COFFEE WITH THE CLERGY:
SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS

Grab a mug, then ZOOM in on Sunday morning at 11:00am to talk with your peers and clergy about shared experiences during quarantine, and how we can support each other. ZOOM link: https://zoom.us/j/84339875179

COURTYARD PLAY DATES

Know someone with young children looking to join a synagogue? Or perhaps you have some new neighbors interested in Jewish community? We're excited to offer outdoor games and fun with our youth engagement team on Monday and Tuesday afternoons - one family at a time, and one family per day - along with an opportunity to tour Am Shalom. Play time is open to everyone - members and members-to-be! Registration is required. Questions? Please contact Alyssa at alatala@amshalom.com.

GLENCOE COMMUNITY GARDEN FEATURED ON ABC7!

Our very own Glencoe Community Garden was featured on the news! Check it out here. Did you know the GCG produces more than 3,000 lbs. of produce each season, and it all gets donated to organizations that help feed the hungry? Learn more about what's growing on at the garden, and how to help, here.

MASK AND FOOD DRIVE

Thank you for continuing to drop off food donations and masks - the need is as great as ever. Donation bins can be found near the main temple entrance.

BOOK OF LIFE AND MEMORIAL PLAQUES

Last month, all members received information and instructions about Am Shalom’s Book of Life and Memorial Plaques, which offer two ways to honor and memorialize loved ones who are no longer with us. If you are interested in purchasing a memorial plaque or including loved ones in the Book of Life, please complete and return the materials by August 3, 2020. You may also submit your information online at amshalom.com/form/bookoflife.html. Please contact Gia with any questions at 847.835.4800 or giam@amshalom.com
