AM SHALOM'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY: DID YOU KNOW?

In honor of Am Shalom's 50th anniversary, we've been scouring the archives to compile some fun facts and interesting anecdotes from the last 50 years. We'll be sharing one "Did You Know" each week right here in the KOLbytes throughout our yearlong celebration, and we'll be adding them weekly to our website here

TWO MINUTES OF TORAH

This week, we start all over again! Watch Rabbi Steve's two minute take on B'reishit. Read more about this week's Torah portion.

VIRTUAL MUSEUM TOUR: EXPERIENCE LEONARD COHEN

The Experience Leonard Cohen exhibition is on display at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco. On Friday, October 8 at 12:00pm, a CJM Educator will give us an overview of the exhibition, sharing both the biography of Leonard Cohen as well as how his work inspired and informed the four artists on view. Via installation and archival images, we will engage in conversation about the power of words, Cohen’s poetry and music, and explore the contemporary art works of George Fok, Judy Chicago, Candice Breitz, and Marshall Trammell.

CHICAGOLAND PRIDE HAVDALAH

In the spirit of pride and community, Jewish congregations and Chicago’s Keshet for LGBTQ+ Equality in Jewish Life are coming together, again, to host a ZOOM virtual pride program on Saturday, October 2nd. Beginning at 6:45 PM, participants may gather virtually for optional schmooze time and at 7:11 PM everyone will participate in a Havdalah service. Following the service, a pride-themed program of engaging talks, music and other performing arts will be presented. Click here for more information and to register.
