THANKSGIVING FEEDING THE HUNGRY

Every year, Am Shalom partners with area congregations to provide a warm Thanksgiving meal for people in need - for many, it's the only holiday meal they'll have. A generous, anonymous donor covers the cost of the meal, which allows us to go the extra mile and provide a goody bag for each attendee.

An $18 donation provides a warm hat, gloves, wool socks, face masks and hand sanitizer. Click here to donate (select Thanksgiving Mitzvah Project under Type).

MUSIC MONDAYS: ISRAEL EDITION

Start your week off on a high note! ZOOM in Monday, November 8 at 12:30pm for a lunchtime musical treat with Feliza and Rabbi Or Zohar (Havayah Center of Being, Galilee). This year’s series features musical artists, cantors, and rabbis who are lifting up the voices of Reform and Progressive Judaism in Israel and beyond.

VIRTUAL MUSEUM TOUR: RISE UP - STONEWALL AND THE LGBTQ RIGHTS MOVEMENT

Rise Up: Stonewall and the LGBTQ Rights Movement at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center explores the June 1969 police raid of the Stonewall Inn as the flashpoint that ignited the modern gay rights movement in the United States. In the last fifty years since the Stonewall Uprising, America’s LGBTQ population has struggled for equal rights and representation under the law. Rise Up shares the voices and tells the stories of this movement.

Join us for a virtual tour of the exhibit on Friday, November 12 at 12:00pm. Register for the ZOOM link.

ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE PARTNERSHIP

The United States has seen a dramatic rise in antisemitic incidents in the last few years. As a response, the Anti-Defamation League has created an initiative called 'Signature Synagogue Program' to establish strong, long-term partnerships with synagogues to help them address antisemitism. The benefits of membership include the ADL providing expert speakers on a wide range of topics, a training session for adolescents to learn about antisemitism, exclusive webinars throughout the year, and training in how to respond should synagogues fall victim to antisemitic incidents.

We're looking forward to sharing these opportunities with our community as they become available. Up first, the ADL's Never Is Now summit, the world's largest gathering on the topic of antisemitism. The summit is free and will take place virtually between November 7-9. Register here.
