MUSIC MONDAYS WITH AM SHALOM: ISRAEL EDITION

Start your week off on a high note! ZOOM in for a lunchtime musical treat with friends of Music at Am Shalom. This year’s series features musical artists, cantors, and rabbis who are lifting up the voices of Reform and Progressive Judaism in Israel and beyond. On January 10 at 12:30, we are excited to welcome Rabbi Gabby Dagan (Or Chadash-The Lyons Center for Progressive Judaism, Haifa). ZOOM in here.

THE POETRY OF LEAH GOLDBERG WITH DR. RACHEL KORAZIM

Twelve of the greatest Israeli poets laid the foundations and gave us the language of metaphors, sounds and images in Hebrew. Over the course of four sessions (January 11, 18, 25 and February 1 at 1:00pm), we will study the subtle and insightful poems of Leah Goldberg, exploring the richness and versatility of her writing, and its relevance to our times. These close readings of Goldberg's work will also feature live music from Cantor Markowicz, Cantor Staple, and Ken Smith. ZOOM in here.

INTRODUCTION TO JUDAISM

Intro to Judaism is an engaging multi-session course for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of Jewish life. Discover what could be meaningful to you in liberal Judaism. This course is designed for individuals and couples from various faith traditions and cultural backgrounds and those who have had no religious upbringing. It is perfect for interfaith couples, those raising Jewish children, spiritual seekers, individuals considering conversion, and Jews who want a meaningful adult Jewish learning experience. All people, perspectives, and questions are welcome!

This class is co-hosted and taught by five congregations on the North Shore of Chicago: Congregation BJBE (Rabbi Jason Fenster), Congregation Sukkat Shalom (Rabbi Carlie Daniels), Am Shalom (Cantor Julie Staple), North Shore Congregation Israel (Rabbi Ryan Daniels), and Temple Jeremiah (Rabbi Rachel Heaps).

Tuition is $36/student. Classes will take place in person, and will rotate through each congregation. Course begins Wednesday, January 12 at 7:00pm and runs through May 25. Please click here to register.
