UPDATE FROM THE COVID TASK FORCE
Our Covid Task Force continues to meet and make policy recommendations as the situation evolves. At this time, we will continue to require masks and proof of vaccination to attend programs and services at the temple; pre-registration for Shabbat services is no longer required.
SHABBAT SERVICES WITH SPECIAL MUSICAL GUEST NOAH ARONSON
We are thrilled to welcome musician Noah Aronson this Shabbat! Known for his unique, engaging, and deeply soulful approach, Noah is considered one of the most sought after Jewish musicians in North America. He joins us on Friday, March 4 at 5:30 for a Tot Shabbat Purim Palooza, and then at 6:30 for our Multi-Access Shabbat Service.
SOJUST: NEW ADVOCACY INITIATIVE
Here's an opportunity to say "Hineini" - here I am. Illinois House Bill 2775 aims to end a source of income discrimination in housing to ensure that renters are not turned away simply because they use housing vouchers, Social Security, or other public benefits rather than traditional wages to pay rent. Learn more from the Religious Action Center of Illinois about what you can do to help pass this bill. ZOOM in on Thursday, March 3 at 7:00pm. Questions? Contact Ted Schaffner at 847-840-1429 or tschaff@comcast.net.
AM SHALOM WINE TASTERS
Our wine tasting group is reconvening this spring for a series of four Wine Tasting 102 sessions, led by congregants Melissa and Greg Miller. The group will meet monthly on Wednesday evenings beginning April 13. No prior wine tasting experience necessary! If you'd like to receive Wine Taster emails and updates, please contact Alyssa at alatala@amshalom.com to get on the list.
TWO EMERGENCY COLLECTION DRIVES
1. Our friends at Refugee One have reached out with an immediate ask! Since May of 2021 they have received 500 of their expected 800 families, and their apartment set up bins are nearly empty in key areas. Am Shalom has committed to helping them outfit the apartments through our new 20-22 drive:
· 20 NEW bath towel sets (1 set = bath towel, hand towel, and washcloth)
· 22 NEW sheet sets (mix of singles and queens needed - 1 set = 1 fitted sheet, 1 top sheet, 2 pillow cases)
With your help we will be able to fill their bins by the next distribution date of March 23, 2022! Donations can be placed in the labeled bins at the main entrance, or shop our Amazon wish list to send your donations directly to the temple.
2. We are collecting emergency items for the people of Ukraine. We have been asked to collect:
• Over-the-counter infant medications, such as infant Tylenol
• Travel-size toiletries
There will be a labeled bin near the main entrance for these items. The turnaround is quick! Donations will be accepted through Monday, March 7. Additionally, all tzedakah collected at Religious School this weekend will be donated to the JUF Ukraine Crisis Fund.
SAVE THE DATE! RABBI KUDAN 90TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
We are honored to celebrate the 90th birthday of Rabbi Harold Kudan, and to welcome guest scholars Rabbi David Kudan and Dr. Barbara Abrams. Join us for Shabbat services, with dinner to follow. There is no charge for dinner, but registration is required.
To join us via livestream, please tune in at amshalom.com/livestream or facebook.com/amshalomglencoe.
