(Cancelled) Jewish Caring Meditation for Grief

Thursday, April 3, 2025 5 Nisan 5785

6:30 PM - 7:30 PMChapel

Guided meditation based on caring and compassion has great power to heal. In this group, we will learn simple phrases incorporating the virtues of the ancient Priestly Blessing/Birkat Kohanim (blessing, protection, God’s Face, and peace), opening space for our own and our loved ones’ healing. Together we will also examine traditional and contemporary Jewish understanding of these concepts.

The group will meet from on four consecutive Thursday nights in April. Daily home practice, journaling between sessions, and attendance at all sessions will be encouraged to deepen the healing experience. No previous meditation experience is required.

The meditation was developed and is led by Beth Fishman, PhD, Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Program Manager of addiction services at JCFS Chicago. Dr. Fishman has extensive experience leading Jewish meditation for community members seeking healing.

Please note: This group is intended for those in the latter stages of bereavement over the loss of a loved one. If you are newly bereaved, please contact JCFS Chicago’s bereavement staff for resources.
