Dana Poncher

Bet Mitzvah Coordinator

Joined the team in 2024
After leaving her position as Special Events Director at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Dana found herself with newly open days as her children were busy with school and college. Already a regular participant in Torah Study at Am Shalom, she began substitute teaching and was thrilled for the opportunity to share her love of learning. Dana quickly fell in love with her students and soon began teaching in both the Religious School and Hebrew School, where she discovered that Am Shalom felt like an extension of her family.

Dana ultimately joined the Am Shalom staff full time and now serves as the Bet Mitzvah Coordinator. In this role, she supports the clergy and guides families through every step of the Bet Mitzvah process, from scheduling and meetings to answering service-related questions, in addition to tutoring and teaching Hebrew. In her free time, Dana enjoys being with her family, hockey (go Blackhawks!), motorcycle rides, and sunny autumn days.
